Aubrey is 9 months old!

Summer has arrived at Casa de Baggett! The kids and I have already braved the pool water (a balmy 81 degrees on the first day), and Aubrey seemed to have the best time! These are pics from her first time in the pool. I suspect there will be many more to follow. Also, we have planned a beach vacation for this summer, and I can't wait to see how she does. Alden was a great beach baby, so maybe she'll take after her brother.

In other news, this month has brought about many new changes for Aubrey Jill (or "Aub" as Alden likes to call her...and actually, I think it's sweet). She is now pulling up to everything, and she only holds on with one hand. Occasionally, she'll let go and stand by herself for a few seconds. Then, it's like she realizes what she's done, and she sits down really fast! Of equal importance is the fact that she is now waving to everyone! At first, she started saying bye-bye (ok, well it was b-b, but we knew what she meant) and waving, but now she waves at you and expects you to wave back and say "hi!" It is so sweet! She is still crawling everywhere and she is fast, too! She can get out of your sight in just a moment, and everytime, she goes to the electrical plugs!!! She loves cords of any kind. She also loves shoes, which is not bad in and of itself, but she likes to chew on them. We also have to watch her so carefully because we live in the land of Lego, so at any moment, I might fine Luke Skywalker's light saber or Harry Potter's wand in my floor, ready to go straight to her mouth. Alden is really a very neat and clean little boy, but there are just so many Legos!!

Aubrey's tastes haven't changed much in the last month with regard to her favorite toys and things to do at home. She has now taken a liking to her giraffe teething toy, so we keep that one on hand at all times. It's either that or our hands! She is really independent, so she likes to be in her walker so she can do as she pleases. Occasionally she likes to jump in her Johnny Jumper while we get ready in the mornings. She also likes to sit in her high chair and play. That is a necessity at times (shower, Legos all over the floor) and she seems to like it. She also really likes to watch Alden play.

Aubrey is still eating about the same, except now, she is really getting the hang of feeding herself and using her pincer grasp. She is also very aware of what we are eating, and I can tell she wants table food just like we are having...so I oblige her! She likes gravy the best! Strangely, she doesn't like juice, but not for my lack of trying. We'll keep working on that one.

In health news, it has been a fairly rough month. Aubrey had some terrible congestion/cough, so we took her to the doc, and she had an ear infection brewing. After antibiotics, she had all the fun things that go along with a course of those, so back to the doc we went. Not only that, but she had an infection in the other ear! So, two more medicines we given. Thank goodness she is such a good medicine taker! Speaking of, I did find a contraption to give meds using a med cup and a nipple on top. I, for the record, said she would never drink meds out of it because of the taste. Annaleigh, for the record, said she thought it was a grand idea. I spent $3 thinking that was the biggest waste of money ever...but since I bought it already, I should at least give it a try? For the record, I was wrong, and Annaleigh was right. She loved the new contraption and took both her meds at the same time! It was the best $3 I've ever spent! Aubrey also has a total of 3.5 teeth now! She has the bottom two in the middle, the top left and now the 2nd top left! It is the .5 that has just popped through.

Aubrey has also developed some weird sleeping habits. In the last month or so, she gets rocked (or bounced to sleep on our knees) and we put her in her bed. I know, I know, but we've never had a baby that cried it out, and I don't see the point in starting now! Anyway, she will sleep in her bed for anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour, then she wakes up. We have to get her back to sleep again, and depending on the time, she sometimes just ends up in bed with us, which also, is just fine. In the last week or so, she has started waking up in our bed, sitting up, then trying to find one of us to lay on! She'll scoot over to us, still sitting up (but never opens her eyes) and want to lean over on us. The she just goes back to sleep! That is what I really love. Also, she still takes a power nap in the mornings and a longer nap after lunch.

Lastly, the weirdest thing she does is one that I've never seen before! I am not a newbie mama, so you'd think there's nothing I haven't seen, or at least heard of before....but alas. Aubrey is a major pincher!!! I don't mean gentle, sweet pinches. I mean, get you right in that tender spot on the back of the arm, or under your chin. She does it most when she's sleepy, so it's got to be some kind of soothing thing for her, but I can't stand it. And that's hard, too, when you're trying to get her to go to sleep, but I have to tell her "no!" and move her hands. Most times she's not too crazy about that. AND...I almost forgot...she has started head-butting, too! She might turn out to be quite the little scrapper!

In any case, Aubrey is the light of our lives, pinching and all! We wish we could slow down time, but our baby will be one before we know it!

The Newest AJHS Majorette Is...

Sooooooo PROUD of my baby girl! She worked so hard, and it paid off!

There are 15 of them total.

The "7th" Grade Majorettes...At least that's what they'll be next year.

Five out of six of them have all been taking lessons together for the last year or so from the baton "guru" in a nearby town...It paid off!

I think that a major reason for Annaleigh's success is due to this precious young lady, Miss Jill. She helped Annaleigh during the week of tryouts and tweeked her routine to give her just the right amount of spunk and sass!! What makes you think she knows anything about twirling?? Well, she just graduated from the University of Alabama, and while she was there, she was a Crimsonette!! Now, if you're not from the South, you might not understand this, but here, these girls are celebrities!! They're the closest thing to royalty that you can get!

What a wonderful Lord's Day! It could not have been any better! The weather was absolutely beautiful, my children are all happy and healthy, and we spent the day as one big, happy family. I loved talking all weekend about the importance of Easter with my kids. I hope they always remember that the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the real meaning of Easter.

When I grew up, we always went to Sunrise Service, but the church we have gone to for the past 19 years (wow) is really big, so we don't do that. It was always such a special memory for me, so I am trying to make equally memorable moments for my kids now. We love to tell the Easter story using Resurrection Eggs, and we love to watch Miss Patty Cake tell the story using those as well.

This is our traditional family picture outside of church on Easter Sunday. We started doing this for Annaleigh's first Easter, and we have done it ever since! Here is last year when I was 20 weeks pregnant with Aubrey:

Aubrey is 8 Months Old!

Aubrey, you are EIGHT months old!! I can't believe how fast the time has flown! You are still the happiest baby all the time. We drag you all over creation with your brother and sister, and you just don't seem to care in the least. Right now, it's T-ball season, so the weather could be just about anything. You just roll with the punches.

You still love going to "school" each day, and you are in LOVE with your teachers Mrs. Judy and Mrs. Linda. They both say you are the best baby all day, and you never get upset. Mrs. Wren, another teacher, was telling me that one day she came in to help with the babies, and you were a little testy about how quick they were about getting your bottle! She said that you very clearly yelled "Mama!" We have been working on that with you at home, but we haven't heard it yet. Maybe if I make you mad enough you will!

We are working on clapping and crawling, although once you start, I'm sure I'll wish I could keep you in one place. You are the funniest thing when it comes to crawling! You get up on all-fours and just rock back and forth. You look down at your legs and it looks like you're thinking, "I know this works for Alex and Braxton!" We know you'll get the hang of it soon, and when you do, 'Katie Bar the DOOR!'

Another funny thing is that you like being in your walker outside. We have been working out in the backyard on the "never ending pool project" for the last several weeks, just about every afternoon after work. Annaleigh is such a good helper with you, and so is Alden really. They bring your walker outside and keep up with you by attaching the dog's leash to it!

You are still eating about the same...and sleeping about the same, too! You usually wake up once per night. Sometimes, we try to wait you out on the bottle and see if you'll go back to sleep. That's also usually a waste of our time. Once you eat, you go right back to sleep. Spoiled? I'm sure. But you're my last baby. I'll wake up with you whenever you want. I can sleep with you're in college.

Right now, you are still wearing a size 3 diaper, and size 9-12 month clothes. We can't wait for summer to get here so we can get you in the POOL! I might have already bought you several adorable swimsuits to wear, since we Baggetts live in swimsuits! I can't wait to get you in that water!!

Both of my older kiddos played Upward Basketball thru our church this year. Annaleigh's team was the Suns, and Alden's was the Jazz. Jason also was involved this year in that he coached Alden's team.

Aubrey is 7 months old!

Aubrey has changed so much this month! She was sitting up pretty well at 6 months, but now it would take a hurricane to knock her over! She is reaching really far for toys now, so when she does get off-kilter, she just gets on her tummy and plays. She is now to the point where she gets up on all-fours and rocks a little back and forth. I foresee a mobile baby in the very near future.

Aubrey is sleeping in her own bed, in her own room which has been painted, and decorated, and "baby-fied". She has been known to sleep all night a couple of nights a week, but for the most part, she wakes up around 3-4am and wants to be changed and fed. We give her a bottle in our room, and most nights she spends the rest of the night in our bed. This seems to work well for us and her, since she sleeps like a rock while we all get ready in the mornings. This is an unbelievable feat, since our room is like Grand Central for 4 people getting ready!

Aubrey has also officially been weaned from Mama. I hated it, but mother nature had other plans. When I came back to school, I was pumping once a day during 6th period and getting between 9-10 ounces. About 8 weeks in, I was getting 3 ounces total, and that was taking all period! Aubrey took to the bottle very well, so we're all happy about how it worked out. As for the rest of her eating, she is a hungry gal! She likes table food now, and gravy and potatoes are her favs!

Aubrey's big news now is that she now has not ONE, but TWO teeth. They are the bottom middle ones! Believe you me, she likes to use them! In general, Aubrey is the happiest baby I've ever been around, and I don't say that just because she's mine. She never gets upset over anything. She has the most contagious smile that is so big, it makes her eyes scrunch together. She is completely enamoured by Annaleigh and Alden, and will pretty much sit for any length of time as long as she can watch them. Her big sister is the best helper ever, and I fully trust her to take care of Aubrey in any way. She's that good. Alden is in love with "sissy" as well. He can't keep his hands off of her and loves to play Patty-Cake, which is her favorite game!

Alden's 5th Birthday

This has to be the most low-key party we have ever had. Everyone was sick, and I mean SICK! Actually, the party was the bright spot in the week...Pappy was already very sick and couldn't come. Jason and I had also been sickly, but not to the point of skipping the party, just miserable! The party, if you could call it that, consisted of our immediate family, Nana, Meemaw, Granny Dunn, and Uncle Culley, and Dawson....that's it.

Shortly after, like hours after, both Nana and Uncle Culley came down with what Pappy had, and within a couple of days, both of them were in the hospital!! To make up for such a pitiful celebration of my sweet son's life, we took two of his friends to Chucky Cheese the next afternoon. They really know how to celebrate!

In just six short months?

Just two short days after her six month birthday on February 8th, Aubrey Jill decided that she was tired of rolling around on her belly and back...

While I was trying some clothes on her for upcoming pictures, she decided she would just start sitting up all on her own...and here she is!

So, what are you up to these days Sweet Girl?

Well, you are the happiest baby I have ever been around! You are simply joyful all the time. You are loving your teachers at school, Mrs. Judy and Mrs. Linda. You never cry at school at all. At night, you are sometimes sleeping thru the night, and other times you wake up and are hungry again. I usually feed you, but I let you stay in the bed with us after that. In the mornings, you lay in our bed and sleep while we all get ready for school. Then you wake up happy and ready to go.

You are rolling over still, and now you are sitting up. You love to jump in your "Johnny Jumper" that has the musical pad under it. You still love your exersaucer, your walker (where you go backwards most of the time), and now you like to sit in the high chair and play with toys while we are in the kitchen.

You are a big eater these days. You like carrots, apples, and pears the best. The only thing you aren't crazy about is peas!

You like to go all kinds of places with us. You are happy anywhere we go, even seemingly all day Upward basketball games with Alden and Annaleigh! You sit on my lap and just watch all the action....that is when you aren't being passed around by all the adults in your life who adore you!

I am trying so hard to keep you little, but you are growing up before my eyes!

I am posting this terribly late, but better late than never! I went to add another post and I realized that I saved this and never actually posted it, so here it is...As a side note, my blogging break was unintended...I awoke on Thursday, January 13th (day 4 of our Bama snow) to terrible stomach pain that continued to worsen throughout the day. At 3:30pm, I realized the doc's office was about the close, so I'd better make a decision...doc or ER....Off to the doc I went and I even drove myself. He admitted me to hospital, and by 8pm, I was in surgery having my appendix out! I hate hospital beds, so I was outta there by 11 the next morning, and that's pretty much the rest of the story!

Aubrey is a fun five month old now! She is also about to be in her own room!!! That should be good for all of us. Thus far, she has had her baby set-up in our room, which has been convenient, but we are late tv watchers, so that is not really the best for her. Annaleigh will be moving upstairs and Aubrey will have her old room next to Alden.

Aubrey also started school this month! Her first week was fabulous and we're all happy to be somewhat on a schedule again. I also started back to school and I am exhausted. We are expecting snow and ice here tonight, so maybe I'll be out of school tomorrow and I will get an extra break. That is what we are expecting anyway...

What an angel!

This month for Aubrey has only brought about more smiling and happiness with this sweet baby. She is becoming more independent in her exersaucer, and we even had to raise it up a notch to accommodate her extra-long legs! She loves to grab and hold onto anything she can get her hands on...including her sister's hair. She is still nursing exclusively and I have been able to continue to nurse and pump even after I went back to school, which is a blessing. I don't know how long my supply will last like this, but I'll take whatever I can get. Right now, we are just enjoying life as it is and trying to get back in the swing of things!

Did I mention that Aubrey woke up, screamed incessantly in the 35 degree weather as I tried to keep her in my baby sling, covered in a blanket, as she refused to take a bottle, and I changed her on my knees in the cold bathroom twice, finally got her to nurse as I carried her in the aforementioned cold weather, all while trying to keep myself from being exposed by trying to keep a blanket across both she and I, as I held her 14 pound body in my arms that I thought would eventually fall off, as I wound my way through the Santa house, as people in very close quarters watched and tried to figure out, "Is she really nursing a baby under there?" where I proceeded to pop her off just before I got to Santa, and turned on my camera in a real hurry so the other cold folks behind me wouldn't have to wait, where Santa then chastised me for my camera flash not firing? But I digress... ;-)

Aubrey is 4 Months Old!

...and I am very late at blogging about it!

Needless to say, as Aubrey gets older, finding time to blog about her has become a challenge! That, combined with the Christmas season has made me fall into a blogging hiatus, intentionally or not.

These pictures was taken after church on December 5th, the day she turned 4 months old.

So Aubrey Jill, what are you up to these days? Well, first of all, you and I are enjoying our last days at home together since I go back to work after the first of the year! I have loved being at home with you and Alden, but I am just better at everything when I am working. I also miss my kids at school, so I will be ready to get back to what I LOVE to do, which is teaching. I am also secretly excited because I saved my favorite part of science for when I return to work...Space! (I know, I'm a nerd.)

The last few weeks have been sort of like living in the Twilight Zone around here as far as Aubrey is concerned. You know that thing I said when she was 3 months about her sleeping all night? Well, bragging was apparently a mistake! Aubrey went through a stage for about 3 weeks that had her Daddy and I about to pull our hair out! She would finally go to sleep with us rocking her around 11pm to 12 AM (!!!), but when we would lay her in her bed, she would immediately wake up and begin to scream. I tried to let her cry it out for about 10 minutes while I spoke gently to her...what a joke! She was running this show and she wasn't going to have it. We finally were able to get her to sleep in her vibrating bouncy seat, so that was her spot for a week or so. By some miracle, she broke out of the bad habit and is back in her bed, but I won't discuss how well she's doing now for fear of the curse of the brag. She is also still sleeping in her swaddle blanket. I asked our doc about getting her out of it, and he said we probably should be moving toward that...until I mentioned that she's like a little Houdini and always manages to get her thumb to her mouth somehow! He said we should keep her swaddled to prevent her from becoming a full-on thumb sucker! I have to agree.

At Aubrey's 4 month checkup, she received 2 shots and got all of her statistics taken. She weighed 13.4 pounds, which is about the 50th percentile. Her height was astounding though...not really, because all of my children have been really LONG...but she was 26.5 inches...the average height for a 7 month old! She is now completely out of any 3-6 month clothing and has moved into some 6 month, but mostly 9 month outfits.

She is still nursing exclusively, meaning no formula, but starting some solid foods, as well. So far, she has liked sweet potatoes, and really seems to love carrots and prunes. I have tried peas and green beans, but she doesn't seem too crazy about those. I have decided to leave off fruits for a while (for the most part), but I have let her try peaches as a treat! She also eats table food (I am a Southern girl, what can I say?) so she has been indoctrinated to gravy, grits, mashed potatoes, and a little ice cream.

She is absolutely the happiest baby. She loves her brother and sister and seems to be smiling all the time. These smiles are so precious, because they are so big, her little eyes have to squint shut so her cheeks can spread out! She is rolling all over the place and will be sitting up before long. I am trying to keep her little as long as I can, but it doesn't seem to be working!

A-mazing Shutterfly Cards This Year!

This year, the same as last, and last, and last, Shutterfly will be creating our Christmas cards! We love the new cards this year! I have so many that I LOVE!!! I think we are planning on using the bifold cards or the flat cards. For all the past years we have used the long and narrow photo cards and we like those, too! One of the best things I discovered THIS year (why didn't I know this in years past???) is that just because a card design says "Happy Holidays" doesn't mean it has to stay that way!! We, as Christians, think the best way to wish everyone a happy holiday season is to acknowledge the very reason for the season which is Jesus Christ. Therefore, our Christmas cards must say something that includes the words "Merry Christmas!" I was so happy to see that I could take most of the cards and change them to say anything I wanted them to. Way to go Shutterfly!

Also, Shutterfly is really FAST! Last year, I had just discovered that Aubrey was on her way and I wasn't really feeling well. I messed around and waited on doing Christmas cards to the point that I thought I was out of time. At the latest possible hour, I threw together a card using a beach picture in black and white (my love) and it turned out beautiful...actually one of my favorite we've ever done!

We are now anxiously awaiting Monday when our photographer, the amazing Shelley Creel, will have our images ready for us to view. For the record, she was more than amazing with our 3 children...ages 12, 4, and 4 months...all at once...in the same picture! We were not stressed out this year either, and that's saying a lot. Thinking about what I imagine the pictures will look like, I have selected a few Shutterfly cards I think we might choose for the Baggett Family Christmas Card!

I like this one since we have 3 kids, each would be featured, and the group shot would be on the inside...It also matches the Christmas pajamas the kids are wearing in their picture!

This one would also be cute for our family of 3 kiddos...And I like that I can use black and white as well as color!

I'm also toying with this one since I have a deep LOVE of black and white...Here, I can have a group shot of the 3 kids as well as individuals of them as well.

Aubrey is like a life-size doll! I love getting her dressed up!

I will, in an effort for complete honesty, reveal my "Super Mom" moment that happened this day. We went to Huntsville and ran several errands, met Daddy for lunch, etc. On the way home, we picked up Alden at school. During the short ride to Casa de Baggett, like less than five minutes, Aubrey started throwing such a fit! I rocked the car seat, sang, and blasted country music (her fav), all to no avail! I thought she was just hungry, and if we could just make it home, she'd be so much better...When I pulled in the garage and opened her door...I saw what my poor baby was crying about...she had this bow pulled down completely over her eyes! She still looked cute though!

After fall soccer season was over, we had a party at the Sports Center for the kiddos. Alden had a really good time with all the new friends he made at soccer. Next endeavor....Upward Basketball, here we come!

This sweet little 3 month old girl is wearing a very special dress...one made by her great-grandmother for her grandmother! That might have been confusing...the dress was made by my granny (her great-granny) for my mother (her Nana). Granny has saved this for 60-some odd years (we won't give away Nana's age!) and it has held up pretty well. It is very fragile however, and kinda feels like paper towel material. Needless to say, I was very proud that Aubrey got to wear this very special dress.

Now Aubrey - What are you up to at 3 months old?

The most exciting news is that YOU ARE SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!! When I say all night, I really mean it! You are going to sleep between 9:30 and 10:30 and sleeping until well after 6:30 AM!! This is big for everyone in the Baggett household! You still love to be wrapped in the swaddle blanket each night, and even sometimes during the day for naps when you are a little fussy. When you wake in the morning, you are usually really hungry and nearly gnaw your fist off before I can get you changed!

Right now, you are about 12 lbs and approximately 25 inches long. That is according to the best measurements Mommy could make by placing you on some wrapping paper and marking your head and your heel. I'm sure there's a more accurate way to do this, but it's how the nurse at the doc's office does it so I figured this was close!

You are still nursing really well, too. You are a very happy, content baby. The only time you get upset is when you have a dirty diaper, and really, who would be happy about that? In the last few days, you have gotten many new toys to play with. We got you a Bumbo seat and you really seem to like it! You sit in it and wring your hands. You like to chew on your fists, and I figure your feet are next! We also got down Alden's exersaucer to see if you could sit in it yet. It's still a little big and your feet don't touch the bottom (and I had to pack a blanket in around you) but you really like it! There are lots of toys to play with on it. You aren't grabbing for them yet, but you really like to look at them. You also have a new mat to lay on and play under. I think it's your favorite. You can hold a rattle in your hand. You are smiling at us all the time, and you are thinking hard about laughing! You aren't rolling over yet, but Mommy's not really in any hurry for that either!

You are such a joy Aubrey Jill! Mommy loves you so much!

Tate Farms, Year TEN

Our "pumpkin patch" is known in these parts as Tate Farms. Believe it or not, we have just accomplished our TENTH season, and this year broke a record by staying at the Farm for FIVE hours!

Since Annaleigh was just three, we have been going to Tate Farms. Each year the configuration of attendees varies, but Annaleigh and I are always included, then for the last five years, Alden has been, too. Jason has been most years, except once when he had Guard Drill, and another when he was overseas in Iraq...and once for the Alabama-Tennessee game, but I digress. Most years, Nana and Granddaddy have gone, and last year my brother and his little girl went, too. The ultimate goal will be for the whole family to make it one year, but we'll see if that ever happens!

Also as a warning, this is an extremely long post, but afterall, I'm scrapbooking for my family!

Baby Aubrey absolutely loved this wrap/sling by Baby K'tan! It is so comfortable for me, and she loved being able to look around and take in all the festivities. She stayed in this for over an hour, and would have stayed longer, but she was getting hungry!

Gatlinburg 2010

This year for Fall Break, we decided to go to the mountains, since I do not take babies to the beach. I value my sanity too much for that. Because Aubrey is only 2 months old, this trip would be somewhat of a trial, since I have never taken one so small on a long trip. After talking with my dad about where I would put all of the luggage, how I would manage nursing a baby while out and about in Gatlinburg with the family, etc., we came to the conclusion, that we would LOVE it if Grandddaddy came to Gatlinburg with us to help with the baby. While most women would cringe at the thought of leaving a 2 month old with a granddad, I had no worries. The one thing my dad always says is, "I don't know anything but babies and bush-hogs!" While we all agree he knows MUCH more than that, we do know that he is king of the babies. He is every bit as good with babies as me and my mom! While we were out with the 2 older kids, Granddaddy, or Pappy as Annaleigh calls him, stayed in the cabin with Aubrey!

Jason and I started each day pretty late, but we were all full after a huge breakfast!

Pappy stayed with Aubrey in the cabin while we took Annaleigh and Alden into Gatlinburg for the Ripley's Aquarium.

We all took our picture beside the "How Tall This Fall?" display...

Alden was convinced he was a fish, too!

This turned out to be the funniest story! At the end of the penguin area, Alden saw this picture and started making mean faces, but we couldn't figure out why...He finally had to tell us that this was the real "Penguin" from the old Batman movies!!

After the Aquarium, we went to the Mirror Maze.

After this, we also went to Ripley's Moving Theatre, but since it was moving, we don't have any pictures of that. When we got back to the cabin, Granddaddy and Aubrey had had a wonderful day! That night, we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. I was shocked that none of my children or my hubbie liked roasted marshmallows! That did, however, leave lots more for my daddy and I!

This was a picture Annaleigh took of the outdoor fireplace complete with a TV! One cool thing is that while we were here, the rescue of the Chilean miners was taking place, so we were able to watch it all on TV while were were outside!

The next day, Jason, Alden, Annaleigh and I headed out to Cade's Cove. It is really one of Jason and my favorite places.

We had a wonderful picnic in Cade's Cove. The fun part was watching cars drive by as they were watching us! Now I know what animals in the zoo feel like!

On the last day before we left for home, we decided to take a ride on the famous Gatlinburg chair lifts. Jason and Annaleigh, and Alden and I rode the first trip while Granddaddy stayed with Aubrey. For the record, you can take babies on the chair lifts for free, but I nicely told the lady she was crazy and that I would not be taking my baby with me!

On the next trip, Daddy stayed with Aubrey while Granddaddy rode with Annaleigh, and Alden and I went again too, just for the fun of it!

Our last stop was Clingman's Dome. As you can see, it was really windy, and we didn't stay long at all!

Tuesday was Aubrey's 2 Month Checkup, and she is PERFECT!

She weighed 7.9 lbs at birth and is now 11.6 lbs (50th-75th percentile).
She was 19.5 inches at birth and is now 24.25 inches (92nd percentile). Wow! She grew 4.75 inches!!
Her head circumference today is 38cm ( 25th-50th percentile).

She had 3 shots today, which she really did great with, considering how much Mrs. Pat (our precious nurse) said it hurt!

AND of course, I think she looked like a DOLL! It does kill me how that I get her all dressed up to go to the doctor, then strip her off just before he comes in! We love Dr. Chupp, and we think it's so special that he knows all about our kids and truly loves them, too!

Here is what Aubrey is up to at 2 months old:

She is still nursing exclusively and gaining weight. She is pretty much on a nighttime schedule, as well. She goes to bed at between 9 and 10 and wakes up to eat around 3-4 usually. Then, she typically stays in the bed with us until morning when I wake up to get Annaleigh ready for school. At night, and even occasionally during the day, she needs to be swaddled to help her fall asleep. We thank the individual who invented the "Swaddle Me" blanket! It has been a lifesaver, or a sleepsaver! Aubrey does take a pacifier occasionally, but she is particular about what kind she likes...the rest she gags and spits out! She loves to be in her swing most of the time, but that's not always the case. I can tell when I lay her down if she's going to stay there for any length of time or not. She does NOT like any kind of bouncy seat! We have one from Alden that vibrates (which he also didn't like) and she won't stay in it 5 minutes for me to shower! We bought a new-fangled one last week that actually bounces on its own....and she hates it, too! Maybe she'll like it when she gets older. I also have a sling/carrier thing that I use on occasion, and she likes it pretty well. I think that about covers it! We are still just loving every minute of her and wishing she would stay little forEVER!

It's Game Day Baby!

It's Game Day here in the South (Roll Tide!) and we are getting ready for the game against Florida. Alden is in his jersey, and Mark Ingram (#22) won't have to cry...at least that's what we told him when he didn't want to put the jersey on just yet! The mojo is important here, and we can't risk messing up the Tide! My parents have come to watch the game with us, and they brought FOOD! BBQ, brunswick stew, cookies, and strawberry shortcake...the only thing that could top this is a WIN against Florida!

Well, that's what you might think after looking at these pictures! Here in the beautiful backyard, it's a football Saturday on October 2nd, and the pool is a balmy 71 degrees...but these kids don't seem to mind. I suppose this will be our last "summer" swim, and I'm glad the kids (and Annaleigh's friend) are enjoying it! Although the girls only made it to about waist-deep (and squealed the whole time, mind you), Alden spent his time perfecting his cannonball!

I knew it was inevitable. Aubrey is 8 weeks and 1 day old, and it hadn't happened yet, so I was at least expecting it.

As I was nursing Aubrey today, Alden came over and said, "Can you just put her back in your tummy? You're always holding her!" I nearly fell out of my chair laughing! Poor little guy is just not getting enough attention!

Soccer pictures were yesterday, and while the other kids were having their pics made (we were there super early, so we went first), Alden and I were making some pics down at the other end of the field. They look just like what the photographer did, but these were unofficial. I'll post the real ones when they come in.

The photographer, who had the patience of Job btw, worked really hard to get ALL of these 4 year olds arranged for a group picture! The final product was pretty good considering there was hardly one second where all of the kids were all looking in the same direction! I'll post the official group photo later, too.

Soccer is still going full swing. Aubrey has yet to go to a practice since it's still so hot here, and Granddaddy has been keeping her. I'm not sure if Alden is really that into soccer so far. He seems content to play with friends and occasionally act like he's somewhat running to kick the ball. Today's famous line, screamed across the field, was "Mom, is it OVER yet?" It made me so proud! Aubrey went to church for the first time today! She is 2 weeks and 3 days old. She made it just fine, and I only missed the last part of Sunday School and the first part of church because she was hungry! She had lots of folks dying to get their hands on her! The pastor asked us to stand and be recognized, which was very sweet! Then he made the comment that he sure was glad that God gave babies to young couples, which really made everyone laugh! Overall, it was a very good Lord's Day!

It's hard to find something that young boys can do. Annaleigh was in dance before she turned three, but sports for little guys are hard to come by. They can't play any of the major three yet, so soccer is where we finally turned, although Jason and I don't know anything about it!

Alden's first soccer practice was 4 days after Aubrey was born. I couldn't take her with us because it was just too hot here in Alabama in our triple-digit heat, but I also couldn't miss my son's big debut. So, Granddaddy "reluctanly" agreed to keep Aubrey for the rest of the family to go to practice! I bet she didn't get laid down the entire hour I was gone!!

The first half of practice, the kids do drills and such, then the second half, they split up and play a "game." The only drawback was that we were lacking in some basic equipment when we arrived! The first parent meeting took place while I was in the hospital having Aubrey, so needless to say, we missed it. I talked to the director that weekend about what we needed to do and got all the info...except the part about needing special shoes, socks and shinguards! I think the guy must have thought we knew, or just forgot to tell us! I said before, we know nothing about soccer, and since this was "little kid" soccer, we really didn't think it was that serious. So, in these pics, Alden is the only kid not wearing the proper attire! He was set the next week though. Here are some shots of the big day...

1st Days at Home

Arriving home at about 10:30 pm on Saturday night, August 7th

Getting ready for bed on her fist night home. She shares a room with Jason and I right now, as you can see in the background. She is also wearing one of Annaleigh's bunting sacks, which is now almost 12 years old! I think she is a good mix of both Annaleigh and Alden...

When we got home, Jason found a box from FTD on the porch...These beautiful tulips were sent by the National Guard Family Readiness Group. It was such a nice surprise!

We came home late on Saturday night, and the kids started school on Monday! Here's Annaleigh, age 11, heading to the sixth grade without me!! She is technically in my Science class this year, although I have a wonderful sub taking my place for the whole first semester! I'm loving the time off with my baby, but I'm also missing that Annaleigh is at the jr. high without Mom!

Pregnancy Finally Coming to an End???!!!

Thursday, the 5th, was my second doctor appointment for the week. On Monday, the doc said I was at 3.5 and 75% and that I should come and "bring my stuff" just in case, so needless to say I was pretty excited! I also decided to go back to work for all of the inservice days before school started, so I was tired and swelled and fairly miserable!

I had my bi-weekly non-stress test, and they made me stay on the machine for 2 cyles. I knew I was having some pretty good contractions, but I had to wait until the doc came and and gave the go ahead...AND HE DID!!! I was at 4 by that point, so I went on the the hospital! Shortly after I got there, Jason and Annaleigh arrived to keep me company.

There were lots of questions to answer....

So, those are the last pics before the chaos started and the big announcement came...Things went a little crazy after this. I had a really fast labor with both my other children, and after my water breaks, it's on! I tried to tell the nurse and the doc that I wanted my epidural BEFORE they broke my water, but it just didn't happen like that. The doc needed to do it right away and get things going, so I reluctantly agreed. He broke my water at 9:25pm. Strong contractions followed...and followed...and followed. Then came the pressure. I kept trying to tell them it was going fast...too fast. I got the epidural at 10:25pm, and the contractions were much better, but the pressure kept building. The nurses came in to get things ready and I assured them that I WAS READY! She checked me and I had gone from 5 to 10 in a matter of about 10 minutes! They intended to walk me through some practice pushes, but apparently I don't need any practice. Once I "practiced" they said to STOP! I tried, but it was too late for that! Once they realized there was no turning back, the sweet nurses did what they do best! They had no choice but to deliver my sweet baby and be the first to announce...

The surprised look on my sweet doctor's face was priceless when he walked in to deliver the baby that I was holding in my arms! He was only about 5 minutes late, but late enough that he missed the whole show! He was in the hospital, but Aubrey was just in too much of a hurry to get here in order to wait. After the doc came in and took care of the rest of what he was there to do, he decided to direct an impromptu photo session with my camera! Apparently it's his hobby of sorts, so we were lucky to get him to give us some good family photos!

We are so excited! The doc said today I am still at 3cm and 70%. He also said that when I come back on Thursday, I should "bring my things with me!" I have completely read into everything he said, but I was shocked when he said that if things were "not going by the weekend, then we would look at getting things started!" This rocket is about to leave the launchpad!!!

Friday was spent shopping all day in Birmingham, and I mean ALL DAY. We all had a good time, and we were basically successful for what we were out to accomplish.

I took pics of what we bought for a couple of reasons, but mainly, as I explained to Annaleigh, because I wanted her to remember what she thought was "cool" for going to the sixth grade! When I began to tell her what was popular in my sixth grade year, her mouth almost hit the floor. I can't remember that year in specifics, but jr. high in general was plagued by many fads. The ones my friend Tiffany and I mentioned a few months back included Sabago deck shoes, bubble suits, swatch watches, wearing your pants "peg rolled," wearing all neon colors, two pairs of coordinating socks...you get the picture...not things that I really want to remember, but boy were they so cool at the time!!

I think when Annaleigh looks back at her preteen years, she'll maybe see that Uggs were not all the rage, nor were Wallaby's or whatever the new thing is this year. So, here is the warm weather clothes we bought, just so she'll remember!

Pregnancy - 37 Weeks

Progress is being made, albeit slowly. The doc indicated he doesn't think I'll actually go to my due date! Today is exactly 37 weeks, which is technically full term, so it could be any time!! At my visit this morning, I was 3cm, 0 station, and 60-70% effaced, so this show might take to the road soon! I can't say that I would be upset if it came early either...I'm ready to meet Aaron or Aubrey.

As of today, I have gained 26 pounds, and I would kinda like to cut it off there if I could. If I have to go the whole 3 weeks, I don't think I'll be able to keep it there! I gained 26 with one child and 25 with the other (can't for the life of me remember which one was which), so keeping all the numbers close would be neat.

Since the beginning of this pregnancy I have been seeing my doctor every 2 weeks! There were a few exceptions in there when I went 3 weeks, but for the most part, all the docs and nurses and I have been seeing a lot of each other! Since 34 weeks, I've been seeing the doc twice a week! On Mondays, I see him for my regular appointment and have a non-stress test, then on Thursdays, I just have the NST. However, the last 2 Thursdays, they have seen some strong contractions on the NST and have decided to see me anyway!

This boy or girl moves a lot, so much so that both Jason and my mother have felt it when they were hugging me! During the NST's, he or she kicks and pushes on the contraction monitor so hard that it really looks as those I might be in labor! I really am looking forward to meeting this little wiggle worm!

Annaleigh has already informed me that I have worn this shirt in way too many pregnancy pics! She'll just have to get over it, b/c I'm definitely not going shopping for any more maternity clothes...period....ever!!

3D Ultrasound

I know this is terribly behind, but better late than never! While Jason was home between his National Guard trip and Italy, we had our 3D Ultrasound. It was supposed to be done between 28-32 weeks, and we just made it in under the deadline at 32 weeks exactly! We didn't have a 3D done with Alden because we were really nervous about accidentally finding out the sex of the baby...we had waited that long and didn't want to see something we weren't supposed to by mistake! With this baby, they assured us that the technology is even better now than 4 years ago, and they would just focus on the face, staying away from the important parts!

This was my favorite shot. I like that you can see its little eyebrows here! This precious baby did not want to cooperate with the sonographer, and I was forced to lie on that really comfortable table for well over an hour and a half! To her credit, the sonographer was so sweet, and she was determined that I would get some good pictures!

For a 3D Ultrasound to work, you have to think in opposites. If you want a 3D shot of the baby's face straight on, then the sonographer has to get the baby in view in 2D as a profile shot. Consequently, if you want a profile shot in 3D, then the 2D shot has to be straight on. Confusing, I know! The point here is that you never see any straight on shots in 3D! That meant the baby was looking directly at the probe in 2D and refused to be photographed in any other way. Is this an indication of a stubborn streak?

This one has its little nose all crunched up (she called this just "ultrasound junk"), but I think it's sweet because you can see that its little cheeks are pulled back pretty tight like it's smiling!

Treehouses and Double Trouble

Today, my brother, sis-in-law, and I took the little ones to the Botanical Gardens to see the treehouse exhibits! There were several, all neat, but none held a candle to the one my brother built for his daughter at their house. I really should take pics of it so you could see how truly neat it is!

Alden (4 yrs 5 mos) and Claire, my niece, (2 yrs 5 mos) both had a great time. It was at least overcast for most of the day, so that kept it bearable, considering I am due with either Aaron or Aubrey in 30 days!!

Sibling Class & Pregnancy Week 35

We here at the Baggett Household are in full baby preparation mode! Part of that included taking Alden to the Sibling Class offered at our hospital. Four years ago, Annaleigh was also supposed to attend this class, but dear Alden arrived a bit too early and she missed it! We were determined Alden was going to make it to this class before the new baby arrived...and he did!

First, the kids (I think I counted 9 children ages 2-5) colored a picture of what they thought our baby would look like. Apparently, Baby Baggett is black and green with a touch of purple thrown in there for good measure! They also colored a birthday card for their new sibling.

Next, the teacher read them a story about a new baby. In this book, the big brother tried to play with the baby and had to learn not to get their feelings hurt when the baby didn't play back. Alden listened like a good boy.

The kids learned to diaper and feed their favorite baby or bear. This is "Batman" bear, sans the costume.

Alden's favorite part of the class was painting a onesie for his new sibling. He decided to put the sun, moon, and stars on it, along with the letter "A", since we know the new baby will have an "A" name, as well...more on that later...decisions have almost been made...

The second best part was riding the tram or the "train" to the main part of the hospital and back.

Each time we go to the maternity ward, which isn't often, we stop by to look at Alden's picture in the hallway! I try to take his pic each time too, since clearly he is growing pretty fast! We are honored that his picture was chosen to represent all the sweet babies born at the hospital. It even says "Baggett" on the kevlar helmet he is laying on. While at the main hospital for Women and Children, the kids got to see some new babies in the nursery, the LDR suite, and the recovery rooms.

Alden received a "BIG BROTHER" pin and a certificate to say he would make a GREAT big brother!

Before we left, the teacher offered to take a pic of our family of 4.5! This also coincides with pregnancy WEEK 35! I have been terrible about taking pregnancy pics, mainly because Jason has been away so much with the NG and his government travel to Italy!

Swim Lessons

Alden decided to begin swimming all by himself while we were in Destin this year! This was conveniently one week before we were supposed to start the swimming lessons that I had already paid for! Alden was only 4 years and 3 months, so we were very proud of him, and we went to swimming lessons nonetheless. I'm glad we did, because he still learned a LOT!

Since swim lessons coincided with VBS, my mom had to take him the first week since I couldn't get out in time because I was teaching 4th grade! I took him the second week and got some sweet pictures. Jason was also gone with the National Guard all this time and missed it all, so I had to get lots of pics!

Destin 2010

Well, we're back from the BEACH, and we ARE NOT covered in tar or oil!! We consider that a sucessful vacation given the circumstances. We left for the beach on Saturday and came back on Friday, so we are basically sun'd and fun'd out! We had a fabulous time and the weather was really wonderful considering it was giving thunderstorms everyday. It really only rained us out one time and then only for a couple of hours.

We watched the news every day, tracking the oil. There's a great website for the Destin area (http://www.thedestinlog.com/) that we check fairly often. When we returned home on Friday evening, Jason happened to check it and it said that tar balls were just then washing up on the beach in Destin. We really dodged that bullet.

Some of the highlights included the dolphin and sting ray sightings, the movie by the pool (Planet 51), and some great one-liners by Alden! My favorite was when he kept saying he wanted to go to the "cat pool." I finally figured out the he meant the "kitty" pool! Of course, in referring to it, I had said "kiddie" pool, but for a four-year old, that's what he heard! There was also the drama where a child did her business in her suit, it fell out, and she proceeded to pick it up, much to the horror of her poor mother! We have lots of memories from this vacation, especially as it's the last one as the Baggett Family of FOUR!!!

Pregnancy - Week 28

The Name Game

The weekend after Mother's Day is always our annual dance revue, this year called "The Name Game." It revolved around songs with names in the title, and as usual, it was very cute! This made Annaleigh's 9th Revue!

We had an all-day rehearsal on Saturday (and by all day, I really mean it...from about 8:45 until about 3:30!), then we had two shows on Sunday afternoon. Mind you that Jason had guard drill all weekend, so Alden had to hang out with a LOT of girls ALL weekend!

Our first dance was baton and we danced to the song "Johnny B Good." Although Annaleigh had done really well catching her baton in practice, especially her one-turn, we had a few misses on stage. What made it so funny was the look on her face! She took it all in stride and was really able to laugh at herself. THAT is what's really important!

Next was pointe. Annaleigh's class danced with some younger, regular ballet students. It was a LOT of girls in a short amount of stage space, but they all did really well and it was very sweet. They danced to "Hey Jude." This is the first year where the pointe was really obvious! Last year was pre-pointe and they weren't really ready to go up on their toes, but this year they did, and it was really beautiful.

Next was regular ballet danced to a number called "Daniel." The girls all looked really pretty and graceful.

This was at the Awards Ceremony right before the Intermission. Annaleigh received her nine-year trophy. If she keeps at this, she will have been dancing 15 years at her senior show!! What a goal to work toward! Now, how much money will I have spent by them?!??

The next number was Jazz danced to "Gloria." It was really one of my favorites because she is so spunky!

I included this one, although blurry, because I never get any action shots of her. We can't use flash photography during the show (some poor dancer might careen off the stage), so action shots are almost impossible! But this one was very pretty, despite the poor quality!

Lastly was competition! We've seen this number numerous times, but it was still precious! These are our little rockers dancing to "Your Mama Don't Dance....And Your Daddy Don't Rock-N-Roll!

A teacher friend of mine came and told me the funniest story today. You see, her son Dawson and my son Alden are in the same class at preschool. Dawson was very concerned about Alden's "brother" and what we were going to name him! Maybe Alden really does know something we don't know!! The funniest part, Alden told Dawson we were naming him "Jock." I just hope he's not too dissappointed if we get a "Jockette!"

Annaleigh has been dancing with the same studio for 9 years, but this year, we joined the Competition Team in addition to regular dance classes. Right now, she takes baton (gearing up for majorette tryouts next year), jazz, ballet, pointe, and the competition class. These are our dance pics this year...or at least some of them. We have never had this many costume changes! She is wearing a total of 6 different outfits if you count the finale! That also has varying hairstyles associated, so I will be a very busy dance mom come recital day!

Annaleigh and friend have danced together in the exact same classes for 8 of the last 9 years!

The lady at the studio always makes cookies for picture day each year! How sweet! These girls are getting a bit delirious from all the waiting! These can take several hours!!!

Competition has included 2 weekends of dance at the beautiful Alabama Theater in Birmingham, and this past weekend we were at the Roy Acuff Theater in Nashville. Yes, that is the same weekend that Nashville received 13 inches of rain and the whole city is flooded. There were several deaths also associated with this flash flooding. We were some of the lucky ones who did actually make it home in time and weren't stuck there in the city. We did see some terrible conditions, though. From what I understand now, the very place we were performing is now under water! All of the area around the Grand Old Opry as well as Opry Mills Mall is under water! It was still a fun weekend despite feeling like a duck the entire time!

Back from the Doc

Today's appointment was fun! There was a student in the ultrasound room, so I got to just lay back and watch while she learned, which equates to more time for me to stare at my sweet baby! He or she measured 24.5 weeks and I'm at 25.1 weeks, so that's pretty much on target. The surprise....he or she gained an entire pound in 5 weeks and now weighs 1 lb, 12 oz!
Also, I was right! He or she is breech! No one seemed bothered by that, at least not now. The baby did a lot of hiding today, too! The ultrasound girls couldn't believe we didn't want to find out the sex, and it was just killing one of them. She even turned the screen away from me so that I couldn't see so she could try to get a peek! As they were looking, both girls started laughing and said that this baby was keeping the secret well! It's legs were closed tight, so if Mama wasn't going to find out, neither were they! The baby was also so sweet in that what we did see was of the baby chewing on its fist.

So far, I have gained 14 lbs. I am sure I should probably slow down a little bit right about now, but for the moment...all is good!

Pregnancy - Week 25

This is week 25!! I will be anxious to see what is going on with this little guy or girl at our ultrasound appt today. My doc scheduled another one to look at the size of the baby, and see how things are going with regard to my diabetes. I have gained about 12 lbs for far, so I suppose they are just keeping a watch on how big the baby is, since that is one of the complications associated with gestational diabetes. I think I am pretty much on target with my weight like I was with the other two kiddos though. I gained 26 lbs with Annaleigh (and I had to take insulin with her) and I gained 25 lbs with Alden (and didn't have to take insulin.)

I will also be interested to see which way this baby is turned right now, because I will just about swear that it is breech as of now! Since this isn't my first rodeo, I am aware of how babies feel when they move. With Annaleigh and Alden, I always felt kicks and jabs all over, but mainly up underneath my ribs...and those were some strong little feet! Here lately, I am feeling nothing but kicks very deep in my belly and very low. My bladder is taking a daily beating, so I am thinking it is head up, feet down right now. I know this can change very quickly and they could always turn around, but I would just be curious to see!
